Noted for both their beauty and rarity, Death’s Sea espagra are found only in the mountains and areas immediately surrounding Death’s Sea and the Scarlet Sea. They roost in loose communities, living in the cliffs and crags of those regions, where they continually fight and squabble over dominance. To call these creatures simply “aggressive” is an understatement. Not only do they relentlessly attack anything that enters their perceived territory, groups of Death’s Sea espagra are known to become combative outside their territory against opponents they have no interest in eating. It seems these creatures engage in such fights for the sheer thrill of it, a behavior that causes no end of trouble for fire miners. The greater effect is most inhabitants of Death’s Sea give these psychopaths a wide berth, lest they attract unwanted attention. Their scales are brilliant red on top of their body and gleaming silver underneath. Long spines stretch from their wings, back, limbs, and tail, which seem to collect, concentrate, and dissipate the heat they absorb. The unique coloration and rarity of their scales makes them highly prized for many purposes. Death’s Sea espagra are suitable as animal companions.
