The Horror construct known as the qural’lotectica is greatly feared among the Cathan tribesmen of the Servos Jungle, as well as other communities that live near forests and jungles. The construct, often called a qural for short, consists of a bulbous central body with several tentacles. Each tentacle ends in a sharp, hollow claw.
Qural’lotectica
The qural hides in the trees along a forest or jungle path, draping its tentacles to resemble branches or vines blocking the way. When a victim passes by, the tentacles pierce the body and inject a paralytic poison. The qural then feeds by draining the victim’s blood through the tentacles, changing to a deep crimson color. The drained, emaciated husk remains as a sign of the construct’s presence.
While these constructs are most commonly encountered in forests and jungles, they have been found in abandoned kaers, and even cities and towns where they can mask their presence.
